THE PARKER FAMILY BUSINESS

In the mid-40s, Richard Parker of Belvoir, NC sold a tract of timber along the Tar River. Some of the trees that leaned out over the river were rejected by the lumber company as being too difficult to remove. So Mr. Parker gave these to two of his sons, Ralph and Graham, which they snaked down the river and had sawed into lumber. In 1946, these became part of the first Parker’s Barbecue Restaurant in Wilson, North Carolina started by Ralph and Graham Parker with their partner Henry Brewer

PARKER'S BARBECUE RESTAURANT OF GREENVILLE

J.C. Parker, son of Richard Parker and brother to Ralph and Graham Parker, decided in the late 1960s to open a barbecue restaurant in Greenville, NC with his son, Doug Parker. In March of 1970, the first of three Parker’s Barbecue Restaurants opened in Greenville. The Parker reputation led them to Greenville and they have served Greenville’s finest pork barbecue for nearly 40 years, drawing on the experience J.C. Parker and his brothers garnered in the early 1940s while working at Alton Respess’ Barbecue Restaurant on Greene Street in Greenville.

Many long hours and consistent dedication have gone into making Parker’s Barbecue of Greenville a regional landmark in Eastern North Carolina! Parker’s Barbecue has been the most popular “go-to” spot in Greenville to get great southern fried chicken and whole hog pork barbecue.

Over 20,000 pounds of barbecue, 10,000 thousand pounds of chicken and thousands of pounds of slaw, Boiled potatoes, and homemade Brunswick Stew are prepared weekly at our three Greenville locations. We take an extreme amount of pride in every piece of chicken we cook and every whole hog we chop each day! We have employees cooking product at our store 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Parker’s Barbecue of Greenville continues to be a family owned and operated business. Parker’s BBQ employs approximately 200 people at our three restaurant locations, serving up the best whole hog pork barbecue and fried chicken in the region. Visit one of our three locations and enjoy our food and hospitality. Parker’s Barbecue is a place where “you’re always treated like family!”
